Nothing is as magical as seeing an orange monarch butterfly flutter across a clear blue sky! I’m excited to share my insect collection, and I hope you enjoy it as well. Nothing screams more like late summer than insects and bugs. While drawing this collection, it brought me back to my fifth grade elementary school days. My fifth grade science teacher had us classify insects, and we had to diagram/draw them in detail from encyclopedias. Encyclopedias, yes, I’m old, but also our school only had one computer in each classroom at that time. The teacher taught us how to tell the difference between spiders and insects, and yes, there is a difference. To be honest, I tend to squish them all if they try to creep up on me, unless it’s a butterfly or dragonfly, and maybe a moth. It’s truly amazing something so delicate and fragile can have the stamina and endurance to fly so far. If a delicate butterfly can make it across the country, just imagine what we can do.
