Growing up, I always had that one special toy that I slept with every night.  The one toy that I whispered secrets to when I swore I wouldn’t tell anyone.  The toy that patiently waited for me when I came home, and always seemed to be there when I needed someone the most.  There are parents, and friends, and they’re great, but the one toy, my stuffed rabbit, felt like home.  As I grew older, I needed him less, but my stuffed rabbit always had a special place.  To me rabbits will always feel like youth and childhood.

The Velveteen Rabbit was my favorite book as a child, and I read it to my son too.  Rabbits also have a deep literary root in childhood and innocence.  Beatrix Potter is also another favorite author that comes to mind, and of course there’s a lot of film adaptations that came later.  Then of course there’s the Easter Bunny . . . well, let’s say that not everyone has the best experiences with the Easter Bunny.  Interesting to note, every other holiday related magical being that brings gifts are usually human or take a human form, except for the Easter Bunny.  Let that sink in for a moment.  Maybe it just wasn’t just me talking to a rabbit for a lot her childhood.  In this collection, I wanted to capture the innocence and fluffy goodness that rabbits represent and make it magical for all ages.  So, pull out the crayons, watercolors, colored pencils, or even a graphics or charcoal set, and reminisce about your best childhood memories from as far back as you can remember, even before you had words for what you remembered.
